US Women’s National Team Arrives in Chengdu Ahead of 2025 World Games

Chengdu, China – The United States Women’s National Fistball Team has officially arrived in Chengdu, China, as they prepare to compete in the 12th edition of The World Games. The international multi-sport event will see over 4,000 athletes from 118 nations take part in competitions across 34 sports, with Fistball set to take center stage once again.


Team USA will join athletes from around the world on Thursday evening, August 7th, at 8:00 p.m. local time for the official opening ceremony at the Tianfu International Convention Centre. The parade of nations will mark the beginning of The World Games, which is the second biggest multi-sport event only behind the Olympics .


The United States has been placed in the Silver Group alongside Chile, Argentina, and New Zealand. The Gold Group features four powerhouse nations: Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.


The US Women will open their World Games campaign on Saturday, August 9th at 9:00 a.m. local time with a pivotal match against Argentina. The two teams last faced off at the 2022 Pan American Games, where Argentina edged out the US in the third-place match by a score of 2:1.


Later that same day, the Americans will return to the field to face Chile at 4:00 p.m. local time. The United States is seeking its first win over Chile, having fallen in their only previous matchup at the 2022 Pan American Games.


Group play will conclude on Sunday, August 10th at 12:00 p.m. local time, when the United States faces off against their emerging rivals, New Zealand. The Kiwis have had the upper hand in this growing rivalry, winning all three previous encounters, including two hard-fought victories at the 2024 Women’s World Championships.
